All ticket-holders will receive a hardback copy of John Yorke's latest publication Trip to the Moon (RRP £25), this is included in the ticket price for collection at the event. Following the masterclass, there will be a Q&A with attendees asking questions as well as an opportunity to get their book signed at the end of the event.
During this 75-minute masterclass, John will talk about his approach to storytelling, the ideas explored in Trip to the Moon and share insights into the writing process.
Into the Woods was a groundbreaking publication that revolutionised writers’ understanding of story structure and continues to be a hugely influential text for screenwriters and novelists alike – including many CBC tutors and students. John’s five-act structure is a brilliant tool for understanding what underpins narrative. His latest book Trip to the Moon takes us on a journey not just through drama and fiction but through politics, religion and non-western narrative. Through these terrains, he seeks out the role of story in all our lives, examining how to utilise its lessons to create life-changing tales – and, in a world aflame with conspiracy theories, to guard ourselves against their darker purpose too.
This masterclass will be hosted at CBC’s current office space in Shoreditch.
