We’re delighted to be hosting this special evening for 30 writers with critically acclaimed and Sunday Times bestselling thriller writer Erin Kelly, in conversation with bestselling author Laura Marshall, to celebrate the publication of Erin’s latest novel, The Night Stairs.
All ticket-holders will receive a hardback copy of The Night Stairs (RRP £16.99, included in the ticket price for collection at the event). Following the event, attendees will have the opportunity to get their books signed.
During this 60-minute Q&A, Erin and Laura will discuss the craft of crime writing and explore the inspiration behind Erin’s addictive new thriller The Night Stairs. They’ll unpack the process of creating storylines that keep the reader guessing, before taking questions from the audience.
As well as being renowned for crafting ingenious plots and atmospheric thrillers, Erin is a much-loved member of the CBC tutor team, leading our six-week Writing a Psychological Thriller course. In 2015, she taught Laura Marshall on our flagship Writing Your Novel course, before Laura went on to sign with Curtis Brown literary agent Felicity Blunt and publish her debut thriller, Friend Request.
The Night Stairs is a dark, compulsive thriller set within the ancient walls of St Cordula’s, a convent boarding school haunted by secrets and superstition. When pupils begin fainting one after another, Deputy Head Fiona Fox fears the return of a terrifying legend linked to the death of a girl on the infamous night stairs years before. As vertigo spreads through the school once again, Fiona must uncover the truth before history repeats itself. But when one student begins investigating the past, old secrets start to twist into new scandals.
